Chicago Bears +3 (-115)
Everyone on the Bears is currently playing for their jobs, whether in Chicago or elsewhere. That goes for the coaching staff, that will almost certainly be gone by the end of the year and Justin Fields. Let’s start with the coaches: Eberflus, a defensive specialist, has put out some really good tape the past few weeks. Quietly, the Bears are a decent defense. They have held off explosives offenses like Lions and the Vikings. The addition of Montez Sweat seems to be working. And this will help Eberflus find a D coordinator job after the season. As for Fields, he’s playing for his career, not just in Chicago but elsewhere as a starter (he’s probably getting traded to Atlanta in the offseason). Against the heavy pass rush of the Browns (and the weak offensive line of Chicago), there is no one in the league I trust more to get out and make things happen in the scramble game other than Fields. As for the other side of the ball, the Browns are very beat up, especially on the offensive line. Most of the resurgence of Joe Flacco isn’t him “finding something”, it’s him being kept upright by a good offensive line. Well, now that might be in jeopardy with all the injuries. Throw in the Bears playing better on defense and I love the points in this game.
