The general public seems to have a consensus now after last week: the SF 49ers are now the best team in the NFC. They sure looked strong on Monday night. But I’m unsure how everyone has already come to that conclusion and written off the Eagles and Dallas. This line is a direct result of that overbearing love for the Niners. While in the power ratings this line makes sense, it doesn’t in any other way. This is a short week for San Fran. This is a letdown spot for the Niners too. To lay this many points in the NFL, there has to be a reason for the favorite to get margin. Why do the Niners, who historically as big favorites never cover, want to smash the Saints? I can see the a scenario where the Niners come in with their guard down and the Saints will be in this game till the very end. I can see a possibility where the Saints may win this game. Yes, it’s that type of letdown spot for the Niners.
